• 'Inferno'

It's interesting to see the beauty that is born out of pressure. This volcano painting was inspired by the March 2021 eruption of a long-dormant Icelandic volcano on the Reykjanes Peninsula. This eruption was the first in nearly 900 years, for that area. In this painting, I wanted to capture the intensity of the lava bursts, while creating a dramatic contrast between the volcano and background. My interest in volcanoes developed during an assignment in school, requiring me to prepare a report on Mount Vesuvius.
